Electronic News Gathering
Electronic News Gathering - what does it mean? It can mean anything from a lone reporter taking a single camcorder out to cover a news story, to an entire television crew taking a satellite truck on location to do a live report for a newscast. The essence of electronic news gathering is “getting the story” and presenting this information to the viewer. The reporter and videographer need to work together to capture the drama, actions, emotions, and information. The ENG reporter must quickly ascertain what is important about the activity and how it affects the participants and viewers. In this class, you'll learn how to determine what is a 'newsworthy' story, what equipment is needed to cover the story, how to shoot the interview, the difference between 'A-roll' and B-roll', and finally, how to tell your story in as concise a manner as possible. Participants might want to consider taking the editing class simultaneously but it isn't necessary.
4 Weeks, Mondays. Day (1pm-2:30pm) and Night Sessions (7pm-8:30pm). Free of cost!
