Watertown Community Access encourages all Watertown High School students to get involved in television production in their community. WCAC is located on the Ground level of Watertown High, and offers many opportunities, including credit for community service hours for seniors.
Starting Fall of 2011, WCAC will be holding and After School Video Club where students can create their own programming. This club is suitable for high-school students (grades 9 through 12) who are new to filmmaking and want to learn something fun and exciting, as well as for those who have already dabbled in – or who have attained substantial mastery - in digital filmmaking. The program is designed for self-starters, who are interested in television and film and who want to challenge both themselves and the boundaries of film production while also developing their own critical thinking and artistic visions. The club will introduce students to independent video production techniques, including the unique opportunity to broadcast a narrative, personal documentary and/or various forms of Video Art.
Students will learn first hand what it's like to produce/direct real world documentaries, news stories, sporting events, etc. while also developing multimedia production skills including scripting for video, lighting, directing, shooting, editing and broadcasting.
To find out more about the After School Video Club, check back for more information or stop by the studio after school or during lunch and ask to speak with Executive Director Tamarah Green.
