WATERTOWN – The Watertown Police Department welcomed the community for its first-ever National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5th, joining cities and towns across the country in the annual event. Residents were invited to explore the police station, meet officers, and learn about department operations in a relaxed, approachable setting. Guests enjoyed K-9 demonstrations, displays of vintage police cars and motorcycles, and hands-on opportunities to interact with equipment and learn about various divisions, including detectives, community policing, and patrol. The event also featured participation from the Watertown Fire Department and Department of Public Works. Officers said the evening was an opportunity to build trust, foster transparency, and connect with residents of all ages—from longtime community members to children curious about police work. Organizers estimated that over 300 people attended over the course of the event, and expressed optimism about growing the tradition in future years.
