Patriots Honor Watertown Football Coach Joey Carroll With Coach of the Week Award
Watertown High School football coach Joey Carroll received a special visit from New England Patriots Hall of Famer Andre Tippett on Tuesday, Oct. 27, when he was presented with the Patriots High School Coach of the Week Award.
Carroll earned the recognition after leading the Raiders to a perfect 7-0 start, a remarkable turnaround from last season's 3-6 record. The Patriots praised Carroll's leadership, commitment to player development and the team's "WE over ME" culture.
Tippett, the Patriots' executive director of community affairs, presented Carroll with the award and a $1,000 donation to the Watertown football program on behalf of the Kraft family and Patriots Foundation.
Now in his third season as head coach, Carroll has the Raiders in position to capture the Middlesex League Freedom Division title with a victory over Wilmington on Friday, Oct. 30.
WCA-TV covered the award presentation alongside students from Mike Riley's Digital Media and Communications classes at Watertown High School. Students Luke Anderson and Gavin Russo filmed the event, while Jack LaRose served as the reporter, interviewing Tippett,
Carroll and several Raiders players about the award and the team's success.
The presentation will also be featured on the Patriots' weekly television program, "Patriots All Access," airing Friday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. on WBZ-TV in Boston. The segment will also be available on Patriots.com.
