Watertown Fire Marks 25th Anniversary of Sept. 11 Attacks
The Watertown Fire Department marked the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks with its annual remembrance ceremony.
Fire Chief Ryan Nicholson said the department has held the ceremony each year since 2001, observing a moment of silence and sounding four sets of five bells, a fire service tradition used to mark a line-of-duty death.
Nicholson said the attacks continue to have a lasting impact on firefighters, including members of the Watertown Fire Department who traveled to New York City in the days and weeks after Sept. 11 to attend funerals.
