Watertown Chinese American Association Brings Lunar New Year Traditions To The Community

WATERTOWN – The Chinese American Association of Watertown hosted a lively Lunar New Year celebration at the Watertown Free Public Library on February 28. Families and community members gathered to welcome the Year of the Fire Horse with traditional activities, including red envelope crafts, Chinese calligraphy, and a lion dance performance.

The event highlighted the cultural traditions behind Lunar New Year, including the story of the mythical monster Nian and the origins of the lion dance. Organizers say the celebration was also an opportunity for residents of all backgrounds to learn about Asian culture and connect with neighbors.
