Watertown Gridiron Club Supports Raiders On and Off the Field

The Watertown Football Gridiron Club is preparing for another season of supporting Watertown High School football players, providing everything from team meals and nutrition to apparel, training resources and financial assistance.
The parent-led nonprofit raises money to supplement what is provided by the school and help ensure players have the resources they need to participate. That support takes on added importance this year with athletic fees returning to Watertown High School after several years without them.
Head coach Joey Carroll says the Gridiron Club helps provide many of the things the school cannot, including pregame meals, weekly team dinners and nutrition following workouts. The club also helps offset the cost of letterman jackets, provides team apparel and assists players and families who may need additional financial support.
Players say the club's efforts make a noticeable difference throughout the season, particularly on game days. Food, drinks and snacks are provided before games and during long road trips, while the apparel and jackets help build a sense of unity among the team.
Those efforts are funded largely through community support and fundraising. The club will hold its third annual Watertown Raiders Golf Tournament on Friday, Aug. 21, at Sandy Burr Country Club in Wayland.
Local businesses can also support the program through sponsorship banners displayed at Watertown High School home football games throughout the season.
The Gridiron Club is also encouraging more football parents to become involved. Several current members have children entering their senior seasons and will soon be moving on from the program.
The Raiders open their 2026 season Friday, Sept. 11, on the road against Whittier Tech in a nonleague game. Watertown will play its home opener Friday, Sept. 18, against Carver High School at Victory Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
