Watertown's Bemis Park Gets a Makeover as City Continues Recreation Improvements
Watertown officials and local families gathered to celebrate the grand reopening of Bemis Park, unveiling a newly renovated playground and several recreational improvements.
The project includes colorful climbing structures, a spray park area, upgraded basketball and multipurpose courts, and improvements to the baseball field.
One of the park's newest features, a "scoot track," will soon be completed. The miniature roadway will feature painted traffic markings, giving children a safe place to ride bicycles, tricycles and scooters while learning basic rules of the road.
The reopening comes just weeks after the city celebrated the completion of renovations at nearby How Park.
City officials say the improvements are part of a broader effort to modernize neighborhood parks throughout Watertown. Up next is Sullivan Playground in Coolidge Square, where construction is expected to begin in spring 2027, with completion targeted for the end of that summer. Additional improvements are also planned at Victory Field.
