Family-Owned Restaurant Expands on Watertown’s Main Street
Family-owned Mediterranean restaurant Halva has expanded into a larger space on Main Street in Watertown Square.
The restaurant opened its new location Aug. 20 in the former Not Your Average Joe’s space, between the Armenian Museum of America and Bar ‘Cino. The move follows about three years at Halva’s original Watertown location, which its owners said had become too small for the restaurant’s customers.
The new restaurant seats about 120 people and includes a full dining area and bar. The family also plans to open a patio next summer.
Halva’s Mediterranean menu is primarily influenced by Turkish cuisine and includes kebabs, appetizers and salads. The larger location has allowed the restaurant to expand its offerings with flatbreads, fresh pita, desserts and handcrafted zero-proof drinks.
The restaurant is operated by five brothers whose father spent more than 20 years in the restaurant industry and owned more than 15 restaurants in Turkey.
The family also has plans for Halva’s former location, which they said is expected to become a breakfast concept in the coming months.
