Updated: May 13

WATERTOWN – State lawmakers, local activists, congressional representatives, and members of the community were among those in attendance for an event announcing new legislation that would charge fossil fuel companies to create a Superfund. The superfund could generate as much as $10 million in the first ten years. The money would be used for environmental projects such as electrifying public transit, restoring habitats, and building seawalls. The “Polluters Pay Act” is co-sponsored by Watertown State Representative Steve Owens.
