Watertown FY27 Budget Presentation: $226M Plan Maintains Services Amid Rising Costs

Watertown City Manager George Proakis presented the City’s proposed Fiscal Year 2027 budget to the City Council, outlining a $226 million plan that maintains current services and staffing while navigating rising costs and economic uncertainty.


The proposal includes a major increase in pension contributions, higher energy and operational costs, and continued investment in schools, infrastructure, and long-term projects like the new middle school and senior center.


Officials also emphasized the importance of a pending Home Rule petition that could impact future tax rates in the city.
